I was born in a family of artists, so I always wanted to be an artist as well, it came naturally.
When have you started creating jewelry? How did this passion come about?
I was a student when I first created a glass piece of jewelry.
What was your first project or significant piece for you and from what point of view?
The first time I felt sure that it is just the right combination, nothing more, nothing less, it was when I made the Dove Necklace.
How do you charge your batteries? What other passions and creative interests do you have?
I love travelling, especially in sunny places, by the sea if possible. I like photography and industrial design. Probably if I wasn’t a ceramist, I would have been a photographer or a designer.
What does the connection between manufacturing tradition and contemporary design mean to you?
The type of jewelry that I make, especially the Lovers Eye Collection means exactly using technology in remaking images. But at the same time, I also use the most classic techniques of manufacturing porcelain.
Which material have you not yet used is a temptation and a challenge for you?
Metal. I only use metal when I absolutely have to ( ear wire, stuff like that). I plan to learn to use metal more, in combination with porcelain.
How was the pandemic period for you as a jewelry designer?
The pandemic period was very good for me, professionally. My online business was practically relaunched, it was a real restart.
How do you see the future of contemporary jewelry?
I am really curious myself about it. I think it is great that today we can express our talent and creativity in so many materials. We can learn new techniques, we can approach new materials, we have access to everything we need in order to express our creativity, much more than a few years ago. And that is just wonderful, because what makes a difference in the end is creativity.
