Doina Bacalu (Romania)
DOINA BACALU
Biography:
I like to create sculptural jewelry and I love to use the chasing repousse technique, the most recently discovered, casting in lost wax and cuttlefish bone. This does not mean that I dislike the classical techniques that require rigor, self-discipline but which are not limiting and contrary to creativity. I want to be able to convey thoughts, feelings, images that are revealing me and my world and to invite the viewer to a dialogue. It can be a moment of sincerity that we both miss. I also would like that those who my works , to transfer their story to be told further, thus creating a chain of sincerity. I believe in sincerity and in the need to be revealed often, much more often.
Collection Concept: Dorina’s Surreal Life
Dorina is my middle name that is rarely used. Somehow represents me but not in everyday life. I associated it with my imaginary life full of untold words, stories, unrevealed feelings and thoughts, day dreams, night dreams and all else that is haunting me.
