Biography:
Magdalena Pelmus, visual multimedia artist, performer and jewelry designer, was born in 1974, in Constanta, Romania. She graduated in 1999 the "N.Grigorescu" Art University of Bucharest, the painting section and became co-founder in SURSA group in 1999 and Loading Open LAB - artist run space in 2006. She received the Union of Romanian Artists Bucharest, RO Scholarship for young artists in 2000 and the 1st prize in The Miniature Art Biennale, Serbia, in 2018. As an artist she exhibited in the country and abroad and her works can be found in private and state collections among: National Museum of Contemporary Art, Bucharest, RO; Luciano Benetton collection, Italy; European Investment Bank, Luxembourg; Art Museum, Dobrich, Bulgaria; Carrefour des Arts, Normandy, France; M21,Langenlois, Austria; The Modern Gallery Cultural Center, Gornji Milanovac , Serbia . In 2019 graduated Assamblage school jewelry courses and started the MA_NA Jewellry project. In 2020 she exhibited at the first edition of the contemporary jewelry fair, Romanian Jewelry Week 0.1, Arcub, Bucharest, RO. Her art is about identity, fragility, memory and human condition. “Jewelry is a statement to the outside world, objects to perform with to express your identity.” She lives and works in Bucharest, Romania.
Collection Concept: Contemporary Archeology of Love
This collection is a celebration of Love.
Love encompasses a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection, to the simplest pleasure.
The collection Contemporary Archeology of Love materializes, mainly, through 7 statement jewels that describe three symbols of love: Venus (Aphrodite) - the goddess of love, beauty and fertility, Connect - the connection that is created between people who nurture any form of love, Hearts ( Hearts) - the emotional, moral, intellectual or spiritual core of the human being.
In addition to that I will have several rings called Fascinum & Charm, made in glazed porcelain, in different colors, mounted in silver and copper, depicting also the symbols related to love, fertility and evil eye superstition.
