KARIN VAN PAASSEN
Biography:
I am a driven individual who organized dozens of projects as curator.I have a broad interest in art, design, fashion and of course people behind their works. I love to design and make Jewelleryof black porcelain, I have learned skills in Jingdezhen (China). Working with my hands to make jewellery and work as a curator in demanding and complicated projects at the same time, are both talents that I keep developing.
Collection Concept:
I design porcelain jewellery and objects, incorporating predominantly natural materials as well as searching for new forms and applications, wearable jewelry and body related objects. I have always feel attracted to porcelain, mainly black. Porcelain gives me the opportunity to tell stories through my jewellery by combining porcelain with beads and charms I collected all over the world and very often horse hair. Sometimes the story arises while I work with the clay, like when I created huge objects for the back.
Making jewellery is a emotional journey. With porcelain I can create any form I like. I make wearable jewellery and more and more monumental works, that cover the back and the front of the body. Every jewel is unique.
