SZILVIA ZITA RÉMIÁS
Biography:
Szilvia Zita Rémiás is a Hungarian jeweller and metalworker. She graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest, Jewellery Design and Metalwork MA in 2021. She has won the Design Without Borders International Award in 2018 and she has been selected in Talente 2021 artists. During her creative practice, she dives into material investigations and explores the purest connection between forms, materials, and the body. Since 2017, the appearance of light has got a significant role in her works as a component of jewellery.
Collection concept: BODY LIGHT
In Body Light, I investigate what happens when we place the light source on the human body — as an extension of the character — and thus make it part of the spectacle. While it is seemingly absurd to wear LEDs and electric circuits, our posthuman condition shows that our connection with technology gets only tighter in the future. While the series makes the mechanics visible, it also emphasizes the parts of the body instead of the jewellery itself.
