Yuxi incorporates the style, attitude and visual dimension of youth sub-cultural groups into traditional Suzhou embroidery. changing it into something rebellious and bold. The collection shows how traditional culture can be used to establish a new Chinese aesthetic. Through pleating, sewing, and the lustre of silk threads, handwork can be displayed in more dimensions.
Suzhou embroidery is a traditional handicraft from China, considered an important part of the cultural heritage. Hand embroidery needs to respond to the emergence of machine embroidery. Focusing on cultural heritage and sustainable development, Yuxi connects with local crafting communities, and explores how embroidery will break through its current limitations and show the magnificence of craftsmanship more boldly.
The collection is made of embroidery and metal, with different patterns, shapes and colours on the front and back. Pieces are designed to be removable, so that customers can choose how to match them with their clothes and mood.
