Collection concept:
“The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy”. The Myth of Sisyphus, Albert Camus.
The "absurd" in philosophy refers to the futility of a search for meaning in an incomprehensible universe. The conflict between a person's endless desire to understand existence, versus the inability to find and understand its meaning. I find this absurdity in artistic labor as well, which on the one hand connects one to the essence of life, and on the other hand seems to be disconnected from a person's day to day struggles. In this project I made a series of necklaces in the context of this continuous conflict, between life and death, creation and cessation. The images I use reflect ideas of liveliness and development. When wearing the jewelry, these ideas are linked to real physical feelings, of suffocation, of a structured and processual movement. The jewelry wraps around the body in a circular motion, as if endless. In this series I go from the individual to the general, repeating the same shape over and over ,breaking it down into its elements, keeping the tension. To create for the sake of creating.
