Designer biography:
Otilia Fiastru is a jeweler and graphic designer. She graduated from The National University of Architecture and Urbanism ”Ion Mincu” in 2002 and has been a graphic designer since 2001. She works as an art director on commercial and cultural projects, such as The National Museum of Art, The National Center of Dance Bucharest, and The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Salonul de Proiecte. She works in print and book design of different genres and styles, novels, graphic novels, art books, and exhibition and performance materials. In 2013 she founded the contemporary jewelry brand Oval and worked as a designer and maker. Oval creations were distinguished with the MNAC Award at Autor Contemporary Jewellery Fair 2014 and The Special Accessory Design Award during IFS 2016, at London Fashion Week.

'The Way Out is Through'
'The Way Out is Through' is literary and fictional as it draws inspiration from the connection to hidden realms, much like a circle perfectly enclosed within a square. It reveals itself when one ventures beyond, akin to a finger slipping through a ring or a wrist adorning a bracelet. But sometimes the space shrinks, resisting the conventional, yet breaking through as an ornament. Small, raw gems remain stuck in the grid. Have others dared to navigate this path? How many of them made it? The fragile method of mounting the stones defies the norms of traditional jewelry craftsmanship, serving as an enduring test over time. The opportunity remains open to add more gems, to see if they withstand the test.
