Designer biography:
Annika Ingelaere (° 1971) graduated as a Master in graphic design and later in jewellery design. She is a teacher at the Kunstacademie Eeklo and also an independent designer. She works in an investigative way, exploring the boundaries of technique, material and colour. In recent years, she has been researching how pollution attaches to nature and what colours appear in the process. She experiments with materials such as fine silver, enamel, glass and various forms of oxidation.
Collection concept:
This collection consists of tubes made of fine silver. The silver is extracted from old X-ray films and recycled silver, which is then rolled into paper-thin sheets and engraved with intricate textures. The sheets are then rolled into tubes and joined together with silver wire to create necklaces, brooches, and earrings. The textures are inspired by the undulations of landscapes. The colors in the collection are derived from pollution hues (oil, sulfur, oxidations) and are crafted using glass and enamel materials.
