Designer biography:
Diana Diacon is a 3D artist specializing in creating content for real time applications. She started designing jewelry in the digital environment, later developing a taste for physical jewelry and experimenting with different materials as a way to explore the creative process and self-expression. Still, her main interest is the jewelry experience in the virtual environment, as it promises much-needed freedom.
Collection concept:
The collection “Straight out of a Funeral” explores visual fragments of Romanian funerals and feelings while coping with loss. The collection is also an attempt to create statement jewelry pieces for funerals. The typical dish for this event, “coliva”, inspired its main materials: walnuts and bread, which are used to suggest life and how easily it can decay. The pieces are unique and fragile, they are a challenge: how long can you hold on to them? The walnut suggests the human element (through its brain-like shape), and the bread is an offering, all of it wrapped in golden shades: the divine.
