MONICA ERCOLANI

Biography:

Graduated in 1992 from the Art Institute of Spoleto, in 1993 she obtained the certificate of specialization in Goldsmith Art issued by the Umbria Region. After a long break in other fields of work in 2017 she returns self-taught to her initial passion with the Autofocus jewels project. Her creations are born from the search for an instinctive aesthetic that draws from the surrounding natural, architectural, industrial environments, capturing the details and reworking them in the form of jewels with an identity and non-conforming style, without ever losing sight to their ornanent function.

MAGMA series

The Brooch and the Necklace “Magma” are part of the same homonymous series.Inspired by lava rocks,it takes up the theme of nature as a generative element of beauty but also of strength and impetuousness. The sectioned molten mass recalls Basalt rocks with their suggestive columnal structure.

GORGONIA BROOCH

The Gorgonia Brooch recalls coral fans, the predominant decorative element of this jewels is the absence of material wich, through the countless holes in the weft, enhance the lightness of its structure.

CUORE DI BUE NECKLACE

The result of an accidental and fortuitous case, the Cuore di Bue Necklace is an example of how some apparently banal elements can turn into real creations. It is with this concept of unexpected beauty that the large central part of the necklace, born from the wax that has leaked out inadvertently, becomes the protagonist with its harmonic and suggestive shape.

IO NECKLACE

Io is the most representative of Autofocus gioielli. Linear,asymmetrical and imperfect, spaces and volumes offset and contrast each other in an architecture of balance. The focal point is the decorative element that remains suspended, as in a vertigo, supported by a thin metal wire.
