Collection Concept: The Defiance
The defiance collection is mainly based on Silver, including 5 pieces: Necklace, Earring, Bracelet, cufflink, and Anklet. The Necklace- with only one edition, is the main piece in this collection. The other pieces’ design derives from the necklace in 11 editions. Each piece can be designed regarding orders for any gender. All pieces in this collection are handmade and the casting is done through lost wax process. The techniques used in this series, including the etching, is made by hand and every piece is unique in coloring and texture. The best way to see this collection is through several aspects. The combination of all these facets is what defines the general form of the pieces and
how they complete one another. The first feature is based on my interpretation of the contemporary
jewelry. In my opinion, any piece of jewelry is defined by its relation to the body, and forms itself from the dialogue it has with the human body; this means: Neither should them represent any value outside the body as in Classic Jewelry, nor should them act like decorative trinkets that is worthless both in material and design. The viewer considers how the necklace follows the curves of the body it is worn on. How come the earrings are not symmetrical? Should all the pieces be worn together or each piece presents an independent identity? Why the flow that exists in
the orientation and movement of all the pieces only rests in the anklet that moves towards just one direction which is the ground? And last but
not least, why does anyone have doubts when considers owning the collection?
The second feature of this collection is my attempt to show how these pieces surpass the regularity of common accessories and jewelries in the absence of gold or precious stones or without being polished. In spite of their independence from customary patterns they are also capable of having the impression in a formal context.
