Biography:

Phoebe Dao is a Vietnamese art jewellery designer. She studied MA in Jewellery in Birmingham, UK. She is passionate about the consequences of plastic pollution. Her work uses a mixture of recycled and bioplastic to make bold, powerful pieces that aim to shock viewers with images of fossilised remains caused by human consumer indulgence. She believes we can use recycled plastic to make interesting and thought-provoking pieces that help make people think about their use of plastic.

Collection Concept:

It is common knowledge that plastic does not biodegrade easily or quickly. Most plastics cannot completely decompose. It is a kind of thing that lasts forever. It is also a theme of this collection: PLASTIC LASTS FOREVER. The concept is about fossils in the future. She believes that plastic will either become fossilised itself or it will cause animal life to become fossils.

She also believes that we can use recycled plastic to make interesting and thought-provoking pieces that can make people think about their use of plastic and also stimulate feelings and emotions around the damage that is being done to humankind by discarded plastic waste.
