Biography:
I started as a ceramic product designer, having graduated with a BA Design/Ceramic Designer at Jingdezhen Ceramic College. Now I am studying jewelry design at Central Saint Martin, University of Arts London.
Collection Concept: EYE SPOTS
I have always been curious about insects. After reading THE INSECTS AN OUTLINE OF ENTOMOLOGY, the Smerinthus planus Walker, which is in Lepidoptera, aroused my strong interest. This kind of insect is particular as when it rests, the brown fore wings would cover the back wings, while when it is disturbed, the blue and black spots on the back wings would appear, which resemble a giant frightening eye. The aim of this behavior is to protect itself by threatening the enemy and it could be explained as a reasonable reaction to stress, which is just similar to the case of a human being. By special spreading method of fan structures and varied shining ceramic glazes, the decoration on the head highlights the psychological defense as a stress response.
