Designer biography:

Madeleine is an independent jewelry line by designer Madalina Tudor Radulea.

Each piece has a story and hopefully you will find someone to resonate with yours. Every piece is designed and hand-crafted in Bucharest and the casting is done in a local studio. Every piece is either small series, or unique. The works are inspired by visual art, rich materials, extreme adornments, organic and raw forms and shaped with a minimalist aesthetic. We use recycled precious metals, like silver and gold, so each piece has dozens, or hundreds of years of history melted into a piece of design.

Madalina is a graduate of University of Architecture in Bucharest, with courses at Istituto Europeo de Design in Milan and Institute Marangoni in Paris. She was first introduced to modern jewelry at Assamblage Jewelery School in Bucharest in 2013.

Collection concept:

Tradition brought back in a modern key. Heritage Collection just got bigger this year. Our Coin Collection is a statement for our bold love to adventure. The designs are inspired by real coins, which traveled the world.

Cubano - The ring is a reinterpretation of the 10 Pesos coin originally designed by Charles Edward Barber.

Argentino - The peso was a name often used for the silver Spanish eight real coin. Following independence Argentina began issuing its own coins, denominated in reals ,soles and escudos, including silver eight-real (or sol) coins still known as pesos. These coins, together with those from neighbouring countries, circulated until 1881.

The Ducat - Originating in medieval Italy, the Ducat was first struck in Austria in the early 16th century. Although the coin’s design was first struck in 1872, the year engraved on its reverse is recognition that the economic constraints of the First World War ended, at least temporarily, the minting of gold coins in 1915.  That year was also one before the death of Emperor Franz Joseph, who ruled the Austro-Hungarian Empire for 68 years, one of the longest reigns for a monarch in a modern history. His profile adorns the coin’s splendid obverse.
