Designer biography:

Ramona POPESCU (b.1977) I have university and doctoral studies in Economics and Management, a master’s degree in Public Administration and a fifteen years career as university lecturer.  In 2017 I decided to follow my passion and put in place a small jewelry studio, Craftyzzart Ltd. In 2019 I began to attend the courses of Assamblage Jewelry School from Bucharest and then Assamblage - Institute of Art and Design. I permanently continue to perfect my techniques and acquire new abilities.

 In 2020 I was admitted to display my work at the first edition of Romanian Jewelry Week 1.0, in Bucharest and in 2021 I participated  at Romanian Design Week and Romanian Jewelry Week 2.0. I also exhibited at the 1st Contemporary Jewelry Biennial Lisbon 2021, the VI Muestra de Orfebrería Contemporánea de Madrid 2022 and Milano Jewelry Week 2022.

My work combines different techniques such as fabrication, cast, keum-boo and wire knitting. I like to combine different materials like metals but also leather, textiles and paper. My jewelries are often aerial, inspired mostly from nature, but they also tell stories and transmit messages.

Collection concept:

Through My Eyelashes Collection - It's about looking at the world with different eyes in order to see its absconded beauty. It's about changing the point of view whenever you look for new meanings in life and try to better understand it. Looking "through your eyelashes" means including more of your inner self into the exterior and therefore reflecting and changing it. Sometimes seeing less is getting more. The collection includes sex brooches - The Lake, Sunset, Night Sky, Fields of Green, Mountain High and Sea of Blue and uses materials as silver, coloured wire and pearls.

And There Will Be Spring Collection - The title was inspired by the Bible which quotes God when creating the world - "And There Will Be Light!". Spring is the "light" that comes after winter, the sun rising from behind the clouds, the hope that spreads into our souls. Flowers and leaves are waiting to burst and give birth to a new life. The collection is dominated by the color green and includes two brooches, a ring and two pairs of earrings. It combines silver with coloured wire and silk.
