Designer biography:

My name is Ioana Zamfirescu, born and raised in Craiova, who now lives in Bucharest, Romania. I am a 38 years old independent jewelry artist, even if my professional career is in the medical field (emergency medical doctor). Being the daughter of a talented painter, I was drawn to art and creating from a young age, but I got to study jewelry making only 4 years ago at the Assamblage Jewelry School. There, in 2021, I finally found the technique I feel most comfortable with: lost wax casting. More important, I found the proper guidance I so much needed and the courage to begin my creative journey. Romanian jewelry week 2024 is the first exhibition I hope to attend.

Fairies and Faith

This collection is about imaginary things that make humans move forward. Fairies are mythical beings of folklore, with diminutive human form and magic powers that we are allowed to believe in, or even talk about only as children. Faith on the other hand is more accepted than fantasy but still something humans imagined so their souls would find confort. As an emergency medical doctor, I felt so many times that we are not alone. Despite our actions, things go one way or another depending on God's (or other sacred deities) and their authority over the universe, nature or human life.
