I am part of a generation wielded by “this is how it should be”, this is what we are supposed to do”, according to rules passed over by our elders. I did not find myself, I did not adapt, I did not want to cut any corners. I have learned to listen to my heart and soul, to develop my thoughts from a qualitative point of view. I have learned that it is never too late or too early to want to do it, as long as you love whatever you do. I consider myself a spoiled brat of life. It is a privilege to dream, to set goals and to fulfill them.

I’ve started creating jewelry last winter, following the advice of a dear friend, which knew I had good abilities in crafting things with my hands. Therefor, I signed up for contemporary jewelry courses at Assamblage School of Contemporary Jewelry, which I graduated successfully. All my pieces have been created somewhere around mid-way 2019, so they haven’t been exhibited yet, thus you’ll have the chance to see them premiere at #ROJW.

I’m an architect by formation and a self-taught jewelry designer, with a passion for color, texture and fluid, organic shapes. In 2009 I began creating jewelry as a hobby, experimenting with various materials and later on taking part in contests, exhibitions and trade shows. In jewelry making I found a refugee from my day job, as "There are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature" (Antonio Gaudi).

I am a graduate and a M.A. of UNArte National University of Arts, the Faculty of Decorative Arts and Design, specialized in Metalwork and I began to exhibit my creations publicly, in Romania and abroad, since 2015. In 2018, after completing courses at Assamblage, I started to think about adding jewelry design to my independent working activity. I try to build into silver and bronze, at a much smaller scale, the shapes and volumes I imagine in my smiting projects.

Looking back, everything I did before attending the Assamblage School of Contemporary Jewelry courses, were but quests for meaning. I started making jewelry in a very monotonous period of my life, when I was no longer finding my bearings and exhilaration whatsoever. I was in need of a creative offline activity and jewelry-making came to light as the only way that made me feel really good.

The initial vision of each jewelry piece is instinctive and visceral, an organic expression of my perception of the world. Yet, the final design is sleek and architectural, influenced by my years of architecture study and my inclination towards minimalism, extracting the quintessence of things. I place great value on concept and try to tell a story with my pieces but also to allow for them to create a story for the wearer.

I am a graduate of the Romanian-American University of Economics, but after completing several courses at Assamblage School of Contemporary Jewelry, I started to work as an independent jewelry designer. In my jewelry design I seek out the almost imperceptible details in lines, colors, forms that are surrounding us and in the reflection of light. I think there is a subtle geometry in our everyday life.

This creative road I’ve taken started from a pure passion to create. I enjoy spending time in my workshop focusing on different things, learning new techniques and inventing new ways of doing the same thing, but much easier and faster. My inspiration comes from the beauty and simplicity of nature. What drives me is the tendency to translate this admiration into a visual language, to illustrate the connection with something bigger, that operates according to the same principles and breathes in the same way.

A brief sighting of wildlife or the discovery of a growing jewel can be a transitory respite or a lifelong enrichment. My attention has long been held by these glimpses and discoveries; they have become my source of sanctuary and personal rhythm. Collecting natural forms and incorporating them into my work reaffirms truths that begin with the self, but are at once universal. A certain intimacy is established by both acts - the collecting and the making.

My passion for jewelry making begun unexpectedly, as any true love would. It was like all of a sudden, after a life long full of educated words, I finally learned to talk. No boundaries, no misconceptions, just the purity of the concept, articulated meticulously in each piece of jewelry. It is like transposing the beauty of the felt word, the depth of a concept or merely the joy of playing with metal, in each jewel.
